MENUMPAS KOLESTEROL JAHAT

JANGAN LUPA SAYUR DAN LALAPAN
Kolesterol tinggi bisa memicu tekanan darah tinggi. Sayuran ternyata cukup efektif melawan kolesterol jahat itu.
Mengidap kolesterol atau darah tinggi ? konsumsilah banyak sayuran. Serat dan zat aktif dalam sayuran berperan dalam mengubah lemak menjadi glikogen. Bisa juga mengurangi penyerapan lemak oleh darah. Atau menghancurkan lemak di dinding pembuluh darah.

Lalapan Menyehatkan
Ada banyak sayuran berkhasiat. Daun sambung nyawa mengandung alkaloida, saponin, flavonoid, dan tanin. Sifat zat aktif yang dingin itu mampu membersihkan darah dari kolesterol, cukup dilalap 7 lembar sehari.
“Kobis juga bagus, tapi bisa mengakibatkan perut kembung,” jelas dr. Vivi K Tjahjadi, staf medis Klinik Herbal Karyasari Jakarta. Tanaman ini menyimpan bahan aktif sulforafan, histidin, iberin, dan CHB (cyano hidroksi butena). Kobis bisa disajikan sebagai lalapan, dimasak sup atau karedok.
Seledri juga berkhasiat menurunkan kadar kolesterol. Bagi penderita disarankan setiap hari mengkonsumsi 6 batang seledri (bisa ditaburkan dalam sup). Seledri menyimpan atsiri (aliin dan alisi) sebagai senyawa anti kolesterol, serta senyawa flavonoid.

Sayuran Anti Kolesterol
Kenapa mesti lalapan?Tidak juga. Anda bisa mengkonsumsi sayur matang. Mulai dari bumbu sampai kuahnya.
Bawang putih menyimpan atsiri (aliin dan alisin) sebagai zat anti kolesterol. Sementara kalsium, kalium, saponin, scordinins, dan saltivine merupakan senyawa aktif yang menyehatkan. Kalium bersifat menenangkan, cocok bagi penderita hipertensi.
Daun salam mampu menurunkan kolesterol. Bahan aktifnya berupa minyak atsiri, tannin, dan flavonoida. Bagi penderita kolesterol tinggi disarankan minum air rebusan 10 lembar daun salam setiap hari.
Wortel mengandung protein, karbohidrat, lemak, serat, beta karoten, kalsium dan gula alami. Beta karoten merupakan zat anti kolesterol. Sementara serat wortel mampu mengurangi penyerapan lemak oleh tubuh.
Pepaya muda mengandung beta karoten, pektin, d-galaktosa, L-arabinasa, papain, papayotimin papain, fitokinase, caricaksantin, dan violaksantin. Dua senyawa terakhir mampu menghambat batu empedu. Empedu mengontrol kadar kolesterol darah.
Labu siam dan jamur kuping juga disarankan bagi penderita. Labu siam mengandung saponin, alkaloid, dan tannin.
Air rebusan jagung utuh (plus kulit dan rambut) berkhasiat anti kolesterol. Jagung muda kaya kalium, thiamin dan fosfor. Air rebusan atau kuah sayurnya bisa diminum.

Pencegahan
Untuk pengobatan atau pencegahan, menu sayuran sangat disarankan. Sementara kurangi makanan berlemak (LDL) tinggi : gorengan, daging, kacang tanah, dan santan kelapa. Apokat memang meningkatkan kadar lemak total, terutama HDL. Jadi, ya tidak membahayakan.
Konsumsi juice tiap pagi sangat disarankan. “Seledri bagus bila di juice” kata dr. Vivi, begitu pula juga wortel, kobis dan daun sambung nyawa bisa dibuat juice.
Sayuran mentah sangat disarankan karena gizi dan zat aktifnya masih utuh. Kalaupun dimasak, jangan terlalu matang.
Khusus lalapan mentah, mesti dicuci bersih di air mengalir. “Kalau perlu sayuran dibilas dengan air garam,”tandasnya. Ada yang berpendapat air garam sebagai anti bakteri dan anti racun. Mau lebih aman, ya mengonsumsi sayuran hasil pertanian organik.
